Can You Spring-Clean Your Kitchen in Under an Hour?

Cleaning is not always an enjoyable task, especially for homeowners who don’t have a lot of time on their hands. In this article, kitchen renovation contractor DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen of Wilmington shares a basic guide on how to efficiently spring-clean your kitchen in an hour or less.

Be Prepared (Estimated time: 5 minutes)

Having all the cleaning tools you’ll need before cleaning helps cut down the time it takes to complete the task. Bring out the trash container, extra garbage bags, cleaning spray, cleaning cloth or sponge, broom or vacuum and a mop. Don’t forget to wear cleaning gloves to protect your skin against any chemicals in the cleaning solutions.

Load the Washer (Estimated time: 10 minutes

Once you have all your tools, start the cleaning process by loading all the dirty dishes into the dishwasher. You can also include the removable parts of your stove, as long as they’re dishwasher-proof.

Clear Out the Clutter (Estimated time: 40-45 minutes)

This means ridding your kitchen countertops and fridge of expired food items and anything that doesn’t belong in the kitchen. You can use a garbage bag for items that need to be disposed of, and a basket for items that were simply misplaced.

Easy-to-Clean Kitchens

Regardless of how fast and thorough you work, nothing quite beats having an easy-to-clean kitchen in the first place. This can be achieved by having a good working triangle wherein the stove, sink and refrigerator are in close proximity. Less distance means fewer spills. You can also choose flooring with fewer seams and narrow grout lines.
