Downtown Condo Kitchen

New to the city, this couple wanted to experience downtown living. They found a 12th floor condo with big windows and beautiful views of all the city has to offer, but the kitchen was dark and didn't speak to their personalities or their needs. Their remodeled kitchen is now light-filled and warm, comfortable for the two of them and their two newly adopted cats to begin their next chapter.

The general layout of the kitchen was fine and the existing cabinet boxes were in good condition, so we removed the dark and non-descript cabinet doors and refaced the cabinets with new thermally fused flat slab doors. They are a vertically grained lighter wood-look pattern, with the upper wall cabinets a contrasting horizontal center panel with vertical styles for a stylish modern touch. Our clients didn’t want the sit-up bar at the island, so we lowered the half wall for them and added three new base cabinets at the back of the island, and added roll-outs in most existing cabinets, all for enhanced storage. New light quartz countertops brighten the space. The lighting system was extensively redesigned with new pendants over the island, retrofitted recessed ceiling lights, and new under-cabinet fixtures, and a ceiling fan was added. Ceramic tiles add color and texture to the backsplash. The new under-mount sink, faucet, cabinet handles and pendant lights provide black accents; the hidden tab pulls on the back island cabinets conceal the doors. We also closed off the hall open laundry with new bi-fold doors.
