Craftsman Master Bath

Project Name
Craftsman Master Bath
Project Summary
Our clients are empty-nesters planning to stay in their craftsman style home awhile before downsizing, so they wanted to remodel their master bath in a way that reflects their tastes and needs but still is attractive for eventual resale. To keep the budget within resale range, they agreed to keep the existing general layout and reuse some existing items. The tub and shower were the main pain points for the couple, so these two items were the major focus of the remodel.
Project Story
Our clients agreed to keep the existing general layout, reuse the existing tub and sink faucetry, mirror, and vanity light fixtures, and paint the existing vanity. The tub and shower received special attention for this remodel. The jetted corner tub was dated and inconvenient to use, and after we presented several options, they chose the attractive and functional free-standing soaking tub. We added a corner ledge behind it to supplement the free-standing bath bench. We eliminated the knee wall between the tub and shower to enlarge the shower footprint while maintain the existing drain location, and installed shower panels of silver travertine stone and solid surface with matching niches and low profile shower base. Both rainhead and handheld shower fixtures were ordered to match the existing tub/sink faucetry. A new frameless clear glass shower door allows the eyes to focus on the beautiful stone wall panel. All fixtures were converted to a fresh white: deep squared sinks, the new tub, and a new comfort height toilet with soft close lid. A beautiful quartz tops the vanity and the corner ledge. The existing dark gold heavily textured venetian plaster with a wax finish was a challenge; we sanded and smooth skimmed the walls before painting them a soft honey tone. Large format (18x36) porcelain flooring with infloor heat was continued into the formerly carpeted closet for maximum comfort underfoot. A recirculating pump was added to provide hot water to the bath quickly.                                                                                                             CHECK OUT THE BEFORE AND CORRESPONDING AFTER PHOTOS OF THE PROJECT:
