Top Reasons Homeowners Renovate Their Bathrooms

The 2019 U.S. Houzz Bathroom Trends Study shows that homeowners aren’t averse to spending money on bathroom renovation, with between $10,000 and $12,000 spent on major remodels on average. But what exactly drives people to upgrade their bathrooms? DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen of Orland Park lists three reasons why bathroom remodeling is an appealing project for homeowners.

1. The old bathroom no longer meets certain needs

Bathrooms deteriorate over time. When your bathroom reaches that point, it might no longer be able to function or provide the comfort you would normally expect. If you’re like many people, your bathroom serves as a place to relax. If your bathroom is no longer providing a calming atmosphere because it’s in bad shape, this is an opportunity to breathe new life into this space.

2. To customize a newly purchased home

New homeowners usually have a different reason for bathroom remodeling — to make the bathroom in their recently purchased home reflect their style. These homeowners typically show an interest in spending on a different flooring material, premium finishes and custom vanities.

Interestingly, according to the Houzz study, three in four homeowners upgrade their mirrors during a remodel, and over half have two mirrors installed. High-tech toilets have also become a popular addition.

3. Finally having the budget for bathroom renovation

Bathroom remodels are often ultimately a financial decision. So when the time comes that you have enough money to fund your project, there’s nothing to do other than get the bathroom of your dreams.
