What NOT to Do When Spring-Cleaning Your Bathroom

Regardless of how often you clean your bathroom or have it cleaned, there are a few cleaning tips to keep in mind. They will help make sure that your bathroom will not become a breeding ground for bacteria, mold and other things that you don’t want to deal with.

1. Don’t use the same cleaning products on all surfaces.

If you’ve always thought that using the same disinfecting wipe on all surfaces in your bathroom is fine, think again. There are cleaning products that are made specifically for different areas of your bathroom. For instance, you may need a separate grout cleaner for stubborn grout grime. It’s also wise not to use an all-around bathroom cleaner to clean glass and mirrors.

2. Don’t just clean the dirty areas—clean everything!

You probably don’t enjoy bathroom cleaning that much, but when you do, do it right. Don’t just clean the toilet seat and the bowl. Clean the lid, tank and base too. Don’t forget to disinfect the flush handle as well. When cleaning the shower area, clean everything: floor, walls, showerhead and shower faucet

3. Don’t forget to wash the shower curtain liner.

If you notice residue buildup on your shower curtain liner, you can wash it. Put it in the washing machine together with old towels. Use warm water and a bit of bleach, then wash on the delicate cycle. You can also tumble-dry it.
