"It's Worth a Try"

The Challenge:

• Clients wanted a more open feel in the kitchen but could not visualize how it could be done without taking away needed space from the living room.
• If the wall was opened up between the kitchen and the living room and a bar put in that space, bar stools could be intruding on the living room space.
• Outlets that were in the wall would no longer be available if the wall was removed.

The Solution:

• We proposed a 3D rendering of the redesigned space to overcome the fear of what might be lost in order to produce the desired outcome.
• We designed cabinets with a recess on the back side of the bar so that the bar stools could be tucked under the countertop when not in use, minimizing the intrusion into the living room space.
• We also proposed a floor outlet to make up for the one that would be lost with the opening of the wall.

The Result:

• The client was thrilled with the more spacious feel of the kitchen while not losing the space in the living room!
• The client was grateful that we were willing to give it a try!
