Interior Paint Trends to Expect in 2022

Several paint companies have dropped their 2022 Color of the Year, and there is much buzz about green interiors.

For Sherwin-Williams, the 2022 Color of the Year is Evergreen Fog SW 9130, an earthy green-gray that would be perfect for a muted color palette. Benjamin Moore’s Color of the Year is October Mist, a gentle sage hue that gives a calming vibe and works as the perfect base if you’re in the mood for getting creative with color.

PPG’s Color of the Year is Olive Sprig, also a green-gray shade that is both enticing and instantly soothing. Meanwhile, Glidden Paint by PPG chose Guacamole. Described as a spirited and soothing green, Guacamole is a shade of green that can bring energy and fun to a space.

Nostalgic Shades

Some nostalgic hues are finding their way into color palettes for 2022. This may not come as a surprise as in recent years, interior remodeling projects have been influenced by the grand millennial and cottagecore trends.

To give you an idea about the colors that have a nostalgic effect, take a look at Farrow & Ball’s Babouche No. 223 (a yellow hue that’s bold and bright but not overpowering), School House White No. 291 (a modern eggshell shade) and Stone Blue No. 86 (a timeless and familiar color that can give a subtle sophistication to your interior). Other shades in this category include Breakfast Room Green No. 81 (a lively green that works as an exceptional background for art or furniture) and Incarnadine No. 248 (a classic crimson that can create a glamorous or eclectic look).
