Can You Spring-Clean Your Kitchen in Under One Hour?

Spring cleaning is a wonderful way to mark the exit of winter, but the job deters a lot of people because they think it’s too tedious and time-consuming. In reality, if you’ve got one hour to spare, you can spring-clean your kitchen! Just follow these steps:

  1. Do the dishes. Get those dirty dishes out of the way by loading the dishwasher and starting a cycle. They’ll be done by the time you’ve finished cleaning.

  2. Declutter. This is not the time to assess if items in your kitchen give you joy or not, but you can allot a minute or two to getting your countertops cleared, putting items back into cabinets and drawers where they belong. Empty counters automatically make your kitchen look cleaner before you even get those kitchen renovation ideas in place.

  3. Clean counters. With your countertops clear, it’s time to clean them. Get yourself a microfiber cloth and some all-purpose cleaning spray, and wipe counters back to front, removing all dust and grime.

  4. Clean appliances. Wipe down your stove, dishwasher and refrigerator as well. If your stove has caked-on debris, pre-treat it first by spraying all-purpose cleanser or even just soap and water. Soaking the spot will loosen the debris, making it easier to remove with a simple wipe.

  5. Tackle flooring. With everything above the floor clean, it’s time to wrap things up by tackling your kitchen floor. You can start by sweeping from the corner, moving in one direction to collect loose dirt and debris. Once you’re done sweeping, mop your floor, again moving in one direction to keep from going over areas that have already been cleaned.
