Tips on Designing Your Home Gym

Having a gym at home gives you peace of mind that even if the weather is bad or a pandemic hits, you’ll still be able to get in some exercise. If you’re thinking about this renovation, it’s probably time to call an interior remodeling contractor. To motivate yourself to use your home gym, consider these suggestions.

Dedicate Enough Space

A cramped room isn’t exactly inspiring to work out in, and adding equipment is not going to help things. If you’re going to dedicate a room to working out, pick the biggest space available. Remove any clutter, especially shelves that can be distracting. A home remodeling professional can help you choose a room and plan the changes you’re going to make to it.

Use White Paint

Bright white is your best option if you’re going to repaint your home gym. Mood and motivation are a huge part of getting fit, and painting your room bright white should provide some positive benefits.

Keep It Bright

Use bright white LED bulbs to keep your gym properly illuminated. Avoid warm-colored lights, which are best if you’re trying to relax. Bright white light keeps you awake and motivated to get those reps in. Shop around for lighting styles that you can adjust if you want to add some equipment or move things around.

Install a Mirror

A small mirror is not going to cut it. You need a mirror to cover the entire length of one wall. Not only will this open up the space and make it look larger, a mirror will also allow you to look at your form as you work out. If dancing is part of your workout routine, a mirror is also crucial in watching yourself as you get the moves right.

Get Some Tunes in There

Spotify has some great motivational workout playlists or you can choose your own music. Instead of taking up valuable space with a bulky sound system, select a Bluetooth speaker that has the right volume and bass. Some speakers even offer 360-degree sound.
