How We Keep the Job Site Clean During Major Renovations

An upgraded kitchen, remodeled bathroom and other major home renovations can boost your home’s appeal, comfort and functionality. However, major projects can involve a lot of mess. One of the first things you should ask a remodeler is how they will handle the cleanup process. Here are the measures we take at DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen to make sure the construction site remains clean and organized throughout the project.

Starting With a Clean Slate

Before the actual work starts, we will make sure to clear the room or area undergoing renovation. We recommend that you keep your belongings and prized possessions in a safe place for the duration of the project. Doing so will help keep your stuff from getting dusty and prevent accidental damage.

If we can’t move furniture out of the way, we will place a protective cover over the items. Covering heavy furniture pieces with plastic will prevent dust and debris from getting into the nooks and crannies. It will also keep the finish in good condition.

Isolating the Construction Site

Keeping the job site isolated will help maintain the cleanliness of your home. This can involve placing plastic sheets over the door of the area under construction. During a major home remodeling project, heavier plastic tarps can be used to prevent the dust from spreading into other parts of the house.

Creating Paths to Contain Dust

Another thing we do to prevent dust from spreading is to create a path using tarps in locations we will be accessing. For example, during a bathroom remodel, we will lay down tarps that lead from the front door to the bathroom to prevent tracking mud and dust through the house while work is in progress.

Performing Daily Cleanups

A good contractor will make sure to tidy your home before they leave each day, as daily cleanups help minimize the spread of debris and dirt. If the weather is nice, we may open windows during the project. This will improve your home’s ventilation and keep dust from covering screens.
