In the morning, this is the father’s space to make his coffee, read the paper, and watch the news (ESPN). In the evenings, we are sure Major League Baseball is the norm – to be expected when 3 of your children have been drafted in the MLB system! (The 4th child runs Division I Track) During the holidays, this is cooking and baking headquarters. And when these young adult children have off season and breaks, this is home base.
For these homeowners and parents of 4 boys, the basement had been a hang-out space, game room and pool hall for quite some time. The make-shift bar area just kind of worked. And now, with kids in college and beyond, it was time to make the sit-down bar space they desired. Hard to believe that the initial inspiration for this sports hangout was actually a generations old holiday cookie recipe that they wanted to keep alive! The recipe requires use of a gas burner and her kitchen cooktop is electric. So making cookies and displaying collectibles hit the design wish list.
