5 Things You Need to Do After a Remodeling Project

After months of planning and weeks of inconvenience, your home remodeling plans have finally come to fruition. However, that doesn’t mean that the work is over — there are still a few things you’ll need to take care of. Today, DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen of Reno discusses six things you need to do after you remodel your home.

  1. Conduct a final walkthrough. Before you pay the final bill, make sure to do a final walkthrough of your home with your contractor. Examine each room that had some work done and discuss any work you aren’t completely satisfied with so it can be addressed.
  2. Get ready to clean. Interior remodeling projects always involve some mess, so prepare for any cleanup you may have to do. If you want to avoid this, make sure you hire a home improvement pro that includes post-construction cleanup in their process.
  3. Register warranties. If you installed any new products or appliances, make sure you register all warranties. This will help ensure your warranty protection is in effect, which will come in handy should you run into any problems soon after installation.
  4. Buy new furniture. If your home remodel involved an addition or a change in layout, you might want to buy some new furniture. Don’t forget to take measurements before you start shopping to ensure all your purchases will fit in your new space.
  5. Change the filters. Regardless of the length of your home remodel or the kind of work that was done, your HVAC filters need changing. Remodeling produces a lot of dust and clean filters will protect indoor air quality.
