The original bathroom in this house was totally out of place aesthetically. The client’s home was custom built with an Asian influenced modern style. The rest of the house is exquisite - how the original bath ended up so out of place is a mystery. The former shower was showing years of failure and there was significant structural damage to most of the bath’s floor. All the subfloor was replaced as were all but a few joists. Sticking to the original footprint and celebrating its numerous ceiling height changes presented additional challenges as well as opportunities.
The client’s functional requests included heated floors, heated towel racks, new insulation, sound deadening interior walls, additional storage, and improved lighting. We installed beautiful floating frameless vanities with a tight and structured dark tropical grain that served as a basis for the completed project. Undercabinet lighting illuminates the light “Linen” patterned floor and shower tile from Daltile with its discrete, wavy visual movement that makes the space feel much larger than it is. A simple sandy white quartz countertop with its visual restraint further enhances the space’s Modern Asian appeal.
An additional non-plumbed vanity with a linen closet incorporating a clothes hamper replaced a never used 40-year-old Jacuzzi that previously resided in this location. The additional mirror and down lighting associated with this functional improvement furthered the space's perception of being larger than it is.
The finished bathroom is a stunning and spacious Modern Asian addition to the client’s home!
