Space For the Family
This recent kitchen transformation was designed for a young Colorado Springs family who wanted more than just an updated look—they needed a space that worked for their busy lifestyle. Their wish list was clear: more prep space, better storage, and an area where the kids could do homework while meals were being made.
To achieve this, we removed a weight-bearing wall that separated the kitchen from the living area. A supporting beam was installed, opening up the floor plan and creating a natural flow between cooking, dining, and family activities. The result is a bright, welcoming space that feels connected and functional.
The centerpiece of this remodel is the new island. It not only doubles the prep area but also provides extra storage and a convenient spot for kids’ homework or casual family conversations.
Design-wise, the kitchen strikes a balance between modern style and family-friendly durability. Showplace Jackson cabinetry in a painted Light Mocha satin finish brings warmth and sophistication, while the Brenton Collection pulls and knobs in Satin Nickel add a sleek, modern touch. The countertops, MSI Quartz in Gray Lagoon, provide both beauty and resilience for daily use.
A Palmetto Sand Blonde Tumbled Pebble Mosaic backsplash adds texture and natural charm, tying the whole design together. Finishing touches include a Moen Smyth high-arc pulldown faucet in spot-resistant stainless steel paired with a brushed nickel 60/40 Luxart undermount sink—perfect for a family that’s always on the go.
This remodel turned a closed-off kitchen into the heart of the home, blending style, storage, and open living. The result is a warm, functional space where this family can cook, connect, and create lasting memories.
