Tips on Creating a Beautiful & Functional Foyer

If there is one space in your home that is often overlooked or taken for granted, it is the foyer. No matter how small-scale this space may seem, you can still transform it into a beautiful spot that will leave your guests with a great impression. Before you roll up your sleeves, consider these ideas to achieve a functional and stylish foyer from a trusted remodeling contractor.

Bring Light Into Your Foyer

Sufficient light is essential when creating a welcoming entryway. You can achieve this by installing sidelight windows on either side of your entry door to allow natural daylighting inside your home. If you happen to have an expansive foyer, you can hang a chandelier from the ceiling instead.

Add a Console Table

Consider decorating your foyer with console tables or even a painted dresser that speaks to your individual style. These pieces are a great choice for narrow spaces. In addition, a console table provides more storage space and gives you a convenient location to stash items like gloves and hats.

Lay a Rug or Runner

An area rug collects dirt and moisture, and prevents it from being spread throughout your entire living space. More importantly, a rug makes an attractive addition to your entryway. Remember to allow at least 18 inches of floor space on each side of the rug to maintain a cohesive look.
