Is Your Home Remodeling Contractor Doing Quality Work?

It’s almost always best to leave a home remodeling project to the professionals. But how exactly do you know your remodeling company can deliver the best results? DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen of Southern Lakes, the premier home remodeling contractor in the area, shares some handy tips here.

Check Projects They’ve Already Completed

You can do this by looking up gallery photos on their website, but when possible, take a firsthand look at projects they’ve finished. This way, you can confirm whether the quality of the work aligns with your expectations. Here are some things to look for:

  1. Tile. Tiles that are jutting out or caving in don’t indicate quality installation. An experienced remodeler will ensure the tilework is smooth and evenly spaced. They’ll also make sure the grout lines are level and as thin as possible.
  2. Paint. You’ll know paint work is quality when it’s smooth and consistent. Look up at the ceiling and observe if the cut-ins are clean. There should be no wobbly lines between the wall and ceiling color.
  3. Lighting. Are the lights in line and evenly spaced? Flickering or flashing lights may indicate an old bulb, but sometimes the reason is faulty wiring in the light fixtures.
  4. Trim. Great trim installation is geometrical and straight, with the corners seamlessly mitered together and the casing around doors and windows level and neat. There should be no nail holes in the trim or any obvious seams.
  5. Cabinets, closets & doors. You’ll know it is quality workmanship when the doors, closets and cabinets can be opened and closed smoothly, without sticking.
  6. Countertops. If the original templating of the countertops was done well, they shouldn’t have oddly placed seams or large gaps filled with caulk.

As the area’s trusted remodeling contractor, DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen of Southern Lakes will be more than happy to show you our prior work.
