Mural Modernization

Project Name
Mural Modernization
Project Story
The owners of this bathroom had a home that boasted a distinct “Charleston/Southern” feel and all of their existing rooms matched that style. They were growing tired of this look and wanted their guest bathroom to lean towards a more modern style while also maintaining a color palette that wouldn’t deviate too far from their existing interior.

This bathroom with a busy mural and cabinets that were falling apart was in need of an update. The owners had several requests including: add visual interest to the room upon entering, incorporate both open and closed storage options, and install a solid surface shower floor (such as quartz), to eliminate grout joints. They imagined a very clean and modern style with a simple palette incorporating different shades of greys and whites.

We were able to achieve these results by building out a 4” deep wall with a texture mosaic tile directly behind the sink vanity. This makes a bold statement and serves as the visual interest they were looking for. We also designed the cabinet below the sink to offer both open and closed storage. We installed the same countertop material on the shower floor, creating the seamless floor they desired. Finally, we chose various shades of grey and white that complimented the “creamy” colors throughout the rest of the home.

This dated, busy, and dark space is now a modernized, seamless, and stunning bathroom!
