Pros & Cons of Waterfall Countertops

In the kitchen remodeling industry, waterfall countertops are becoming the next big trend. Are waterfall countertops worthy of all the hype? In today’s post, DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen of Madison discusses their pros and cons.

Pros

  • Visual Appeal – It’s undeniable that waterfall countertops will be an eye-catching feature in your kitchen. If you want a focal point to add to your kitchen, then a waterfall countertop is a great addition.
  • Versatility – While trends come and go, don’t forget that your home should represent your personal style and preferences. Waterfall countertops work well with any home style, whether it is ultramodern, rustic or contemporary. Not to mention, they also blend well with other appliances and interior decor.
  • Durability – One of the most important factors in choosing a material is whether it is durable enough to stand the test of time. Waterfall countertops are very durable, especially when made of quartz — which is versatile and resistant to damage.
  • Low Maintenance – In addition to durability, a kitchen countertop has to be easy to maintain. Compared to granite countertops, a quartz waterfall countertop can last for years without any maintenance or showing any signs of wear. It’s also worth mentioning that a waterfall countertop is simpler to clean compared to traditional countertops.
  • Extra Storage – Waterfall countertops protect your cabinets from damage since they conceal them and provide a lot more space as well. In fact, you can design with storage in mind, creating space to stow away unused appliances and utensils while allowing enough space to slide stools under it.

Cons

  • Upfront Cost – Waterfall countertops do come with a hefty price tag. They are significantly costlier than conventional countertops due to the manufacturing process and the amount of material used. Aside from the material cost, you’ll also have to include the CNC fabrication costs.
  • Seating – Stools can only be stashed directly underneath the kitchen island, which means you cannot add more seats along the sides.
